Steidle Architekten reveal collaborative workspace design

In Germany, the Munich authorities are working with UnternehmerTUM, a centre for innovation and business creation, to put their city on the map as a world leader for Smart City Solutions. In order to fulfil this ambition, they envisioned a building that would enable practitioners from diverse disciplines to work together under one roof on intelligent technologies. Steidle have been chosen as the architects for the new project, with their design for an inspiring space hosting start-ups, corporate innovators, scientists and creatives, all striving to bring about the city of the future.

Name the Munich Urban Collab, the design proposes an atmospheric and functional building offering a high degree of transparency and plenty of space. The bright and open interior spaces are intended to encourage communication, creating ideal conditions to enhance the process of innovation.

Planned to open in 2020, the building will house offices, co-working spaces, event and seminar rooms, living labs and a high-tech prototype workshop on an area covering more than 11,000 sq m. A café, two conservatories and a sports and fitness room will enhance the work-life balance, while also providing opportunities for meetings and networking.
