Transformative project moves forward for Brisbane 2032 Games

The Queensland Government has appointed Tenderstream member Arup to lead the integrated masterplan for the Victoria Park Precinct, a transformative project central to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The precinct, which includes the future Brisbane Stadium, National Aquatic Centre, and Brisbane Athlete Village, will be reimagined as a vibrant hub for sport, recreation, and community life. Tenderstream circulated information to our members about the masterplan opportunity earlier this year, with tenders recently published for the architectural design of the stadium and aquatic complex.

During the 2032 Games, the precinct and stadium will host the opening and closing ceremonies within walking distance of the Brisbane Athletes Village, accommodating more than 10,000 athletes and officials during the Olympic Games and over 5,000 during the Paralympic Games. Arup will deliver the foundational planning, design, and technical investigations to shape this generational infrastructure investment. The masterplan will focus on world-class and public and green spaces, improving connectivity, and creating connectivity through transport integration, and seamless experiences for the thousands expected to enjoy the precinct during and long after the Games.

Arup Project Director Penny Hall said Arup was honoured to partner with the Queensland Government on this landmark project, stating: “From the Sydney 2000 Games through to Paris and now Brisbane, our approach to masterplanning is grounded in a once-in-a-generation lens - one that aligns with the Queensland Government’s bold vision for the Victoria Park Precinct. The opportunity to reimagine the inner Brisbane precinct as a world-class hub for recreation, events, entertainment, and lifestyle as a lasting legacy for Queenslanders well beyond the Games is both familiar and tremendously exciting for our team to be a part of.”

Arup will collaborate with the Queensland Government, Brisbane City Council, and the Royal National Agricultural and Industrial Association of Queensland (RNA) to ensure integrated outcomes., while community consultation will play a pivotal role in shaping the precinct’s public realm and parklands.
