A design competition has launched for a chancellery and residence at a foreign embassy in Australia. Demolition and new construction of the existing chancellery - alongside partial preservation of the residence building - is proposed as the most sustainable and economical solution. The design will represent the host country, while meeting the government's goal of achieving virtually neutral climate-neutral building stock by 2045.

In the USA, a technical college has released a request for qualifications for design and masterplan services for a new highly-accessible 34 ac greenfield campus. The new campus will include classrooms, labs, business programmes, administrative offices, an entrepreneurship centre, a simulation and game development facility, a biopharmaceutical training hub, and possible construction of a new 125,000 sq ft building.

Our research team has also identified many other opportunities, just some of which are highlighted below.

In China, a contest has launched for a new 'high line' development. Designs are sought to transform a 300m existing ramp bridge into a sky garden, with the urban aerial greenway set to become part of a larger park system. The high line park will blend in with its riverside location, while providing a notable design that includes entertainment space.

Elsewhere in Asia, a contest has been announced for a new museum to house a significant collection of art objects donated from the estate of a private collector. The building will help maximise the value of the donation, providing new opportunities for people to enjoy culture, and for local experts to collaborate with each other and with museums overseas.

In Europe, a tender has been released for a new centre court at a tennis club, which hosts an ATP 250 tournament with around 4,000 spectators. The club is now expected to host an ATP 500 tournament with up to 7,500 spectators, which has resulted in the call for a new, larger centre court with a retractable roof, alongside players' areas, hospitality facilities and media infrastructure.

In the same country, design services are required to develop a multifunctional public park on the site an iconic former amusement park. Designs will encompass an entrance building, together with an urban development study for a planned arts and environmental education centre. Also under consideration is the possible interaction between the surrounding high-rise buildings and the open space programme.

In the UK, tender submissions are invited for the introduction of treetop walkway experiences at selected sites. A single partner is sought to fund, design, construct and operate world class, architecturally spectacular, high-quality exciting and iconic, fully accessible and inclusive treetop walkway experience concessions.

Also in the UK, a design contest is being held for a new footbridge which is part of a major piece of transport infrastructure designated as a pathfinder project, set to showcase best practice across a wide range of target outcomes. It is intended that the winning bridge will become an exemplar for similar projects countrywide.
