Highlights from the Week

Here are just some of this week's highlights:

In the UK, a multidisciplinary team is sought for a £100m campus-style zone to celebrate a renowned writer's birthplace. The masterplan will explore the potential for a new-build museum within the city's gateway site. Following the masterplan development, a design competition will launch for the overall campus project.

In the US, a request for proposals has been issued for development teams for the renovation of a historic open-air amphitheatre, located in a park that attracts 14 million visitors per year. The city aims to re-establish the amphitheatre as a functioning live performance venue that will partner with and provide access to community theatres throughout the region. 

In Europe, general planning services are required for a new university institute and laboratory building. The facility will create additional space physics faculty, while providing additional research areas for quantum optics, quantum nanophysics and quantum information. 

In the UK, a council is providing an opportunity for a landscape architectural practice to help shape a key seafront area. The Council is keen to begin delivering some of the aspirations of its place-making plan that will help develop two of its most popular spaces. 

In Europe, a competition has launched for a comprehensive architectural and structural design for new city footbridge. Currently, there is no available crossing along a 2km stretch of the riverbank. The new bridge will provide a connection between the city's exhibition centre area and its suburbs, providing a high-quality solution that complements the surrounding city.

In the US, a university is seeking professional design services for the renovation and addition to a vacant 16,430 sq ft, three-storey structure. The building will be repurposed to accommodate programme needs for human resources, budget office, and business services, which requires the renovation of all architectural and structural elements.

In Europe, a  design competition has been announced for the development of a city's Royal Route, with the reconstruction of a tree-lined avenue. Special attention should be paid to architectural values that complement the historic location, enhance the attractiveness of the area, and provide pro-climate solutions.
