Mecanoo win 10,000 sqft school upgrade
Mecanoo have won the contract to design a 10,000 sqft renovation for the Het Rikts school in Nijmegen, Netherlands. The existing building dates from 1955 and is no longer suitable for current educational needs. Another catalyst for the renovation is regional demographic trends, which have lead to fewer children and decreased capacity. Previously operating from two campus sites, the whole school will move into the newly renovated building. During construction, pupils and staff will be housed in temporary locations.
